Jamie is finished…one month early!

Every November, there is a wonderful event called NaNoWriMo. NaNoWriMo is a nonprofit organization that challenges people to write a novel in a month. They define a novel as 50,000 words (~200 pages), but we fantasy readers know that is oh-so-not-enough. 🙂

So I decided to use NaNoWriMo as a push to get me farther along in Jamie. But what ended up happening was even better. Not only did I meet some great people at the Louisville write-ins (yeah, we all brought laptops to public places and mostly sat quietly for the better part of three hours–introvert paradise), but I also finished Jamie more than a month ahead of schedule!

Things are happening fast now. The cover design is already in its final stages (because Rebecca Sterling is amazing), and Jamie is off to my beta readers. I’ll be taking the next month or so to edit, and in January, the book will go up for preorder and I’ll release the first chapter. I haven’t nailed down the exact date yet, but the book will likely launch in the second week of February. If you’re in the Louisville area, stay tuned; I’m looking into doing an in-person launch party where you can buy a signed copy of the book at a discounted rate.

Because it’s been so long since Orestes first came out, many of you have mentioned that you want to re-read it before Jamie is released. If so, now’s the time to start! Beginning next week, I’ll be posting weekly interviews with different characters from Orestes to help bring us all up to speed on the events of the first book. Think of it like a virtual book club; next week will cover chapters 1 through 4. If you don’t have your copy of Orestes yet, you can get the ebook or the paperback from Amazon.
